Circus- Rest in Peace
I often feel amused when my friends say that the world is progressing at a very rapid rate. There is no doubt that the world is moving at a very rapid rate. However, whether it indicates progress or not is a completely different issue. I am not a pessimistic person. In fact, my friends often wonder about my optimism even when conditions are terrible. However, I do feel worried at the fact that we are letting go of the old and traditional aspects of our lives without a second thought.
Do not agree with me? Well, when was the last time you went to a circus? Chances are high that you visited the circus when you were a child. Well, when was the last time your child visited a circus? Never. Why? We live in a world that is progressing so fast that we have let go of the old without really thinking about it. Checking out YouTube videos on the Internet may seem like a cool thing and watching advertisements on pop up stands may seem like a modern and accessible option.
Is it really the case? I am not against development or progress. However, I do not believe that blindly running at top speed does not automatically qualify as development and progress. The circus holds a charm that is virtually irreplaceable by any other source of entertainment. Sadly, we have not even bothered to spend time thinking about the demise of this popular entertainment options.
To focus on new and improved solutions without really understanding the benefits of the old and traditional way of life is a shortcut for disaster. Just look around you and you will find that we are committing this mistake in the almost each and every aspect of our lives. Is it really a good thing?
